Celebration of ashadhi ekadashi with the perfect blend of music and entertainment

St. Mary’s High School, Kalyan(E) celebrated Ashadhi Ekadashi on 9th July 2022. It was a perfect blend of Dindi, Lezim , music and entertainment, specially arranged for all the Arya Global schools and Modern School, Ambernath. The program began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty at St. Mary’s school premises. Later, Warkaris of St. Mary’s High School went to Arya Gurukul, Ambernath and performed enthusiastically which really created an aura of devotion. Various traditional games like Fugdi, Lezim etc. were performed aesthetically and whole heartedly. The Marians have given the message to the audience of protecting and preserving environment and save our Mother Earth. The students enlightened and uplifted the spirit of the audience. The fantabulous cultural program ended with a vote of thanks.

Swami Tejomayananda Birth Anniversary

On the auspicious occasion of respected Swami Tejomayananda Saraswati’s birth anniversary, the students of St. Mary’s High School organised a special assembly and a beautiful program. During this event, the students highlighted the many works of Swamiji in which he selflessly worked towards the betterment of the society through the Chinmaya Mission.

The students engaged in poster making and made beautiful portraits of Swamiji, along with stunning dance performances.

The revered Swamiji headed the Chinmaya Mission between 1994 and 2017. During his tenure he has undertaken many roles to spread the teachings of the mission across the world. Swamiji has also published more than 100 books on Vendanta and is the composer of the lilting Sanskrit Birthday song “Janamadinamidam”.

Beautiful songs and quotes from his books filled the air at the school with a renewed energy and inspiration.

Dashavatar

The students and teachers of St. Mary’s High School create history as they recreate the concept of ‘Dashavatar’ in a visually captivating movie with special effects, excellent dramatization and captivating soundtracks.

The team launched its own creation, “Dashavatar” on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Eid on 3^rd May 2022. It was a unique collaborative event that has set a new record in outstanding school events.

Dashavatar denotes the changes in the era, the different forms of Lord Vishnu and how humankind has evolved over the eras to adapt to changes.

St. Mary’s Annual Day

St. Mary’s High school celebrated Annual day on 30th Jan. 2019 and 31st Jan. 2019 at Atre Rang Mandir Auditorium. This year’s theme was ‘Bal Shivaji’ and ‘Kalyankari Raja’. Being an epitome of valour, respectfulness and justice, Shivaji has lived by examples for his principles of respect, trust and equality.

Abacus and Vedic Maths

Abacus and Vedic Maths classes are mainly concentration development program. It develops the brain of a child, which helps the child not only in math but in all other subjects also. It helps in exercising the brain and there by improve creativity concentration, confidence and thus imparts techniques to do the fast calculations.

St. Mary’s High School Celebrates Teacher’s Day

St. Mary’s High School, one of the renowned schools in Kalyan celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September, 2016. The Chief Guests of the program were the teachers who are the pillars of the school.

The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the hands of the principal of the school, Mrs. Shobhna Jha. Next, the headboy of the school expressed his views on this wonderful occasion. Then some of the students performed a wonderful dance dedicated to the teachers. The teachers of all the standards of the school were honoured by giving them greeting cards made by the students. Then, one of the teachers of the school gave a solo singing performance as a tribute to all the teachers.

Then, the principal of St. Mary’s was invited on the stage to express her views on this auspicious day. The principal appreciated the hard work and efforts of the teachers as well as the students who helped this occasion become a grand success. Lastly, the program concluded with a vote of thanks. The program became a successful event only because of the presence and support of the teachers.

Dawn Of The Planet of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence)

“ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” as the name suggests, means intelligence exhibited by machines. The term A.I is applied when a machine mimics ‘cognitive’ functions which are associated with humans like, learning and problem solving. Chess, go systems and self driving cars are some of the capabilities of Mr. A.I. In many AI version tools like search and mathematical organization, logic, method based on probability and economics are also included. This field draws its inspiration from computer science, mathematics, psychology, linguistics, philosophy, neuroscience and artificial psychology.

The term ‘robot’ was first coined by Karel Capek in the 1921 play – R.U.R i.e., “ Rossums Universal Robot”, the sci-fic writer Issac Asimov coined the three laws of robotics, since then traction in genuine AI research.

AI was seen in many movies like ‘THE TERMINATOR’ of 1984, ‘AI’ of 2001 and the recently released ‘AVENGERS: Age of Ultron’. Recently, in Jan, 2012 a businessman Elon Musk donated 10 million dollars to the “future of life institute” to fund research on Mr. AI’s decision making. Musk also funds companies developing AI such as Google’s “DEEP MIND” & “VICARIOUS”.

I hope that one day AI will grow much sharper, but every positive has a negative, it should not happen that AI dominates humans, if this happens then we will have to become ‘WILL SMITH” of I’ROBOT. Let’s hope our future with AI is safe and bright.

Blood Donation

The St.Mary’s Alumni Association had organized a blood donation camp with a view to create awareness and motivate more and more people for blood donation.With the efforts of the alumni members and support from the donors the blood donation camp was a great success. The donation camp proved beneficial when it received a rare blood group, O-ve, which helped a pregnant woman undergo a C section surgery. We also recieved other rare groups like A-ve B-ve and O-ve whose donors are willing to help us at thetime of emergencies.We would take this opportunity to thank all the donors who supported us, the School management, the teaching and nonteaching staff and ARPAN BLOOD BANK for their willingness and dedication to carry out the donation camp at school. The alumni association would request each one to participate in such noble cause as and when possible

Ashadhi Ekadashi

Ashaadhi Ekadashi’ was held on 15 July. A dindi was organized to commemorate Lord Vitthal. Bhajans were sung by the students. Students spoke on the importance of Ashadhi Ekadashi Celebration. Traditional practice was highlighted through this programme to make the students aware of rituals as an important part of Indian culture.

Indigenous Week

Indigenous week commenced from 2nd July to 9th July to inspire the students from the lives of eminent personalities who have achieved success through rigorous hard work and contributed to the welfare of the society. The school arranged a fancy dress competition, elocution competition.

Investiture Ceremony

An investiture ceremony was organized on 9th July 2016. The event was organized to honour the school council members for their rankings. The School council members were selected through various rounds of tests written and viva followed by the election conducted to make the students aware of election process.

Honour Society

Honour Society was held on 16th July. This programme is organized to felicitate the students with ‘Achiever of the Year’ awards their excellent performance in all fields, 100% attendance certificate and academic excellence badge for students who have scored above 90%.

Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima celebration was conducted on 19th July. Gurus were revered on this day for imparting invaluable knowledge to the students and providing guidance in every possible manner. The celebration commenced with chanting prayers. The students offered vermilion powder to the teachers and sought blessings.

Janmashtami Celebration

Janmashtami celebration was conducted on 24th August. Students dressed themselves in multi-coloured attires representing themselves as Lord Krishna and Gopis. Cultural programmes, dance, bhajans and skit was organized to signify the importance of Janmashtami celebrations. Breaking of Dahi Handi with a stick was carried out by the students. An aura of sanctity was created all around.

VanMahotsav

Vanmahotsav was organized to create social awareness to save the environment and trees. Drawing competition highlighting the importance of Green city, Clean city, a rally, plants distribution and tree plantation programme were organized to stress the importance of trees and safeguard nature and also to create social awareness and sensitize people towards nature.

Aarohi

Aarohi was the first of its kind school fest hosted by St Mary’s High School on January 25, 2014 to celebrate its 25th anniversary which brought together an audience of over 3000 comprising students, alumni, teachers and Parents. The day will perhaps go down in history as a redletter day not only for the students and teachers of St Mary’s but also for several parents and residents of Kalyan city. St Mary’s High School, Kalyan that had its humble beginning in April of 1989 celebrated its 25th anniversary on January 25 in a grand and pompous way like never before’ Titled Aarohi: Resonating Memories, the daylong event was conceptualised, organised and managed by the ex-students under the able mentorship and guidance of its founders, Bharat and Neelam Malik and its army of teachers. The gala entertainment event was conceived to be a fund raising event where every penny raised through sale of tickets, souvenirs, and food coupons would go towards providing financial and medical needs of its teachers and students. In the last 25 years, the institution has through its students managed to create leaders across domains – science, commerce, politics, management, arts and entertainment-most of who had flown in from different parts of the globe to thank the school, meet their batch mates and teachers while joining in the celebrations. Aarohi was unconventional in a way that it felicitated some of its own student leaders like Naveen Gawli and Vaibhav Gaikwad who have done the school proud through their political contribution to society. Laughter, music and entertainment, Aarohi had it all, but it also had a purpose – that of uniting the Marians and giving them timeless memories and connecting them to their roots. It was time for celebration again! The evening of Aarohi was the one that few could forget for it had triggered memories that will linger for generations to come. The event had truly been a winner all the way – from the time the idea germinated to the day it was executed.

Annual Day

The Annual Day function for the academic year 2016-17 was organized on 24th Dec, 2016 at Savitribai Phule auditorium. The students had presented the annual function with a difference. The Secondary section enacted Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s famous short story ‘Tota Kahini’ that depicts the drawbacks of forced education system that leads to the slaughter of creative skills. The students of Primary section presented a dance drama, “Why Why Girl” based on a short story by Mahashweta Devi. The story relates about the curiosity and the quest to know of the things that surround us.

Matru-Pitru Poojan

Matru-Pitru Poojan ceremony was celebrated on 9th January 2017 for the parents of Std. X. The students of Std. X expressed their love and gratitude towards parents by worshiping their feet and rediscovered love, hope and trust in them.

Gayatri Havan

Gayatri Havan was organized on 13th January 2017. The school initiates such holy rituals every year to imbibe among the students cultural values and it also makes one aware about the importance of giving and sharing. Students chanted Gayatri mantra in expressing gratitude to the sun for filling our lives with benefits.

Children’s Week:

Children’s week was organized with a view to provide opportunities to the students to show case their hidden talents. Various competitions like Elocutions, Debate, Art and Music were conducted that provided a platform to the students to display their skills and hone their talents.

National Science Day

National science day is celebrated in India on 28th Feb each year and the school organized an event to mark the discovery of Raman Effect. Students celebrated this day by conducting experiments, displaying charts and working models and made it a significant and memorable day. Science experiments were based on scientific principles and its applications in day-to-day life. Students developed scientific knowledge and inculcated scientific attitudes by performing science experiments through charts and working models. Students co-related science with daily life activities. Science quiz was also organized to update their knowledge in various fields of science.
